23rd October 2024- Hump Day Dive
So Wild took advantage of the beautiful weather we had this morning and ventured out for a double dive at South Solitary Island! Surface conditions were a it choppy but the water was blue, clear, and beautiful! With a nice mix of students and certified divers, everyone decided to jump in at the Gantry for the first dive. Our second dive was from Shark Gutters down to the Gantry where we enjoyed the current and had a nice drift!
We saw a lot today, something of interest for everyone in the water! A solo Grey Nurse Shark was seen lingering around the top end gutters, some massive Green Sea Turtles (five-ish) were hanging out around the Boulder Wall and the Gantry, Black Cod, an Eagle Ray swimming in the distance, Wide Banded Anemone Fish, a ton of different species of pelagic fish, Nudibranchs, and a Honeycomb Moray!
We had a really nice interaction with whales today. A mother and its calf were breaching for 15-20 minutes on our surface interval. We also had a pod of common dolphins riding the wake of our boat.
