24th October 2024-Barney Says hello to NVCC Schoolkids
SoWild made the most of todays flat seas before the Southerly rolled in and made for a bit of mess! We shot out nice and early towards South Solitary Island to enjoy two beautiful dives this morning! Everyone enjoyed a bit of whale watching on our way out, as the season has now come to a close and there are an inconsistent number of whales now heading south.
Dive one saw divers dropping in at Buchanan’s Wall and heading up towards Gantry, where they met our Open Water Students. Lots was to be seen, including the Queen of the Island – Barney the Loggerhead Turtle! There were plenty of other Green Turtles to see as well. Different species of Moray Eels were about, Wide Banded Anenome Fish, a Flute Fish, a swimming Flatworm,
After a warm surface, half of our group faced choppy surface conditions and jumped in the water at Shark Gutters to first to the Gantry. The other half of our divers did a frere descent at Buchanans Wall and also swam towards the Gantry. Grey Nurse Sharks were seen along Boulder Wall just up to South boulder, some massive Bull Rays and Eagel Rays, Blue Spiny Lobster, and black Cod were also seen!
Congratulations to Nambucca Valley Christian Community School (Kaitlyn, Lewis, Audrey, and Isobel) for completing your PADI Open Water Diver course!
