28th December 2024- Leopard Sharks at North Solitary
Happy Saturday from the team at Jetty Dive. We had a busy day today, running both of our boats. So Wild ventured up to North Solitary Island today whilst Mega Wild kept it a bit more local and shot out to the Lighthouse at South Solitary Island.
North Solitary Island showed two great dives at Anenome Bay. Divers spotted the first Leopard Shark of the season for Jetty Dive!! There were about 5 different Leopards spotted, some having a snooze and others flying around divers! Painted Lobsters, Blotched Fantail Rays, Green Turtles, and Barraacude were amongst some of the other highlights. A few different clownies were seen, inclduing Wide banded and Blue Lipped! Another great excitement was seeing a Grey Nurse Shark inside of Anemone Bay, which isnt very common considering its usually too warm and shallow for them!
South Solitary put on a great show for divers today, one dive at Buchanan’s Wall and the second one for an up and down at Shark Gutters. Nudibranchs and Spanish Dancers were some of the sea slugs sighted on the Wall today. A sleepy Green Turtle was having a snooze on top of a Wobbegong just at the bottom of the mooring. Heaps of shrimp were also sighted, including Banded Coral, Glass, Peppermint, Ambon Cleaner, and Popcorn! The Dunkers Pipehorse sightd last week now has a stack of eggs on her belly!
