29th November 2024- Sharkvember!!!
MegaWild loaded up this morning with a lull in the Northerly Wind and shot out to South Solitary Island for a double dive
Dive one saw everyone drop in at Mata Arch as the conditons permitted. Upon dropping in, The Arch was filled with 15+ Grey Nurse Sharks. There was also a nice number of overflow Grey Nurse’s into the Cleaner Gutter, where divers also spotted a large Bronze Whaler! A Juvenile Emporer Angelfish was seen in the gutter as well, displaying its vibrant colours! Along with the nurse sharks, a Scalloped Hammerhead was also seen during our safety stop! Some nudibranchs were also spotted by instructor nathan- surprise surprise!
After a nice surface interval, everyone jumped in at Shark Gutters for a swim down to the Gantry and it was shark-tastic!!! There was a surprising amount of Grey Nurse Sharks seen inside of Cleaner Station gutter, probably due to the other action around the island! An inquisitive and rather friendly Sandbar Shark was seen near North Boulder, making his presense known! Another Bronze Whaler was spotted as well. The highlight of the dive however, were the 100+ Scallopped Hammerheads swimming in a shiver down Boulder Wall! Boulder Wall was full of Bull Rays, making divers dodge them left right and centre!!! White Spoted Eagle Rays were seen, as well, gliding in the current. Nearing The Gap, Green and Hawksbill Turtles were cruising around the shallow-er waters.
