30th December 2024- Macro Monday Madness
Calm seas and blue water made for a perfect day out at the Solitary Island Marine Prark! Mega Wild shot out to South West Solitary Island for a double dive, and So Wild got out to South Solitary for the first dive and headed over to South West Solitary for the second dive.
Manta Arch was the choice for the first dive. Half a dozen Grey Nurse Sharks were seen lingering about the Arch along with lots of schooling fish!
South West Solitary Island was all about the macros on the first dive! Everyone got in at Coral Gardens. If you looked closely, you could see the huuuuge amount of Nudibranchs that were hiding just about everywhere! Nathan managed to find a very elusive Harlequin Shrimp (today’s photo), a rare but beautiful sight! Yellow Box fish were bouncing around behind sea urchins, too! The second dive saw divers jump in at Crazy Maze for the second dive! You could clearly see the outlines gutters from the surface so good visiblity was promised! This dive was a treat, with lots of marine life to be seen! A massive Queensland Groper was sighted, along with some Green Sea Turtles and even a Lions Mane Jelly fish! Some Egg Cowries, a Clown Trigger Fish, massive Wobbegong Sharks, Moray Eels and many different Nudibranchs and other assorted slugs were amongst the highlights.
Congratulations to Liam, Abbie, Tyra, Ben, and Aneirin who completed their PADI Open Water Diver Course today! Another big congrats to Calee who finished up her Advanced Open Water Diver Course!
