8th December 2024- Fun in the Sun(day)
Finishing the weekend off strong, Mega Wild steamed out for another double dive at South Solitary Island this morning. With a slight wind coming from the North, everyone opted to jump in the water at the Southern End of the island to have optimal conditions! The surface was flat with minimal current, however the visibility has not yet improved and the water temp was a chilly 18°C! Dive one saw divers jump in at Buchanan’s Wall for a swim up to The Gantry! Dive two was a nice swim from the top end at Shark Gutters back down to The Gantry! A surprise Grey Nurse Shark said hello to the Open Water Students at the bottom of the Mooring at The Gantry, along with Plenty of Grey Nurses up and down the wall! A Numb Ray, a few Bull Rays, and some Blue Spotted Rays were seen up and down the wall. A large Green Turtle and a small Hawksbill turtle were seen in the gap, along with a heap of Flute Fish and Barracuda inside of the of the Gap. Nudibranchs and Spanish Dancers were found on 5-metre rock, as well as some schooling fish such as Fusilier’s, Pomfrets, Bullseys and Tarwhine!
