10th April 2024- Leopards and Grey Nurses
MegaWild packed up a small crew of divers and headed out for South Solitary! Coffs Coast Marine Sanctuary joined us this morning for the release of 12 rescued Sea Turtles, both Green and Hawksbill. We initially headed past South Sol to water that had a bit more current to hopefully assist the release of these turtles. A team jumped in and off they went!
The visibility of the water has turned since last weekend and has a slightly greener hue, but we had very warm water and the visibility was overall still great! We got in at Manta Arch for our first dive and swam to Cleaner Station. Around 15-20 Grey Nurse Sharks were cruising in and out of the arch, some very big females and some extremely small males that look newborn! Once we got in to Cleaner Station, some notable marine life seen was Green Sea Turtles, lots of unique Nudibranchs, Lionfish, and some large schooling fish.
Our second dive was on the top end again (in and out at Shark Gutters). 3 Leopard Sharks were seen around the Third Gutters and the Boulder Wall. An Adult Yellow Box Fish, 2 massive Eagle Rays, a Lions Mane Jellyfish, and Moray Eels were all seen on this dive!
Congratulations Dion on completing your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course
