GIVES YOU MORE BOTTOM TIME!

We are diving down to 26 metres, watching 12 Grey Nurse Sharks at Manta Arch, we have taken heaps of photos but just want that perfect shot. But we have to go, our computers are telling us we are low on bottom time. We have plenty of air – our no-deco time is running out! If only we had been trained as a PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver, we could have stayed an extra 10 minutes!

The PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver course explains why diving with Enriched Air Nitrox lets you safely extend your no stop time beyond the no decompression limits for air. Why complete my PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver Course in Coffs Harbour, with Jetty Dive?

That’s an excellent question. The Solitary Islands marine park has stunning marine life, protected within a sanctuary zone. The dive sites vary from 5m – 28m, which all sit safety within your nitrox Maximum Operating Depth with a 32% nitrox blend. This might make not much sense before you do the course, but essentially our dive sites are the perfect depth for you to get the benefits of using nitrox, and you are forced to maintain a safe depth for use of higher oxygen percentage. Win-win! Plus, there is so much to see! Just check out our Solitary Islands Fish ID Page to take a look at our beautiful marine life.

Myths about Nitrox Enriched Air!

“Nitrox or Enriched Air will give you better Air consumption!”

Answer: If you consume your air quickly, Nitrox will not improve that. Your main benefit from Nitrox, will be that, although your bottom time will be limited on your first dive by your consumption rate – you can now have a shorter surface interval, or longer, deeper second dive. If you want a third dive, it is no problem at all with No Deco Limit’s. So even Air guzzlers can benefit from a Nitrox Course!

“Enriched Air Nitrox dives are safer!”

Answer: Not exactly correct, if you dive well within the no-decompression limits on air you are safe anyway. Sure, Nitrox allows for less absorption of nitrogen, so for the same time underwater, you have less absorbed nitrogen than on air. This can be of benefit if you have predisposing factors which could increase your nitrogen uptake, like age, fitness and exertion (to name a few!)
