Provide Advanced First Aid (HLTAID014)
The Provide Advanced First Aid (HLTAID014) unit deals with the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. The unit applies to workers who may be required to provide, coordinate and manage a first aid response across a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Course Content
Realistic scenarios and practical exercises form part of the training enabling students to apply their skills in simulated emergency situations.
The course covers both HLTAID011 Provide first aid and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation as well as specific and more in-depth training for advanced conditions such as:
- Basic triage processes
- First aid for children
- Abdominal injuries
- Use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding
- Moving casualties using suitable extraction methods along with safe manual handling techniques
- Childbirth
- Ear injuries
- Crush injuries
- Substance misuse, including prescription and illicit drugs and alcohol
- Psychological impacts of first aid incidents on rescuers and how to seek help

Minimum of 2 students required per course and can be incorporated with the HLTAID011 or HLTAID015 courses
