11th April 2025- Coffs Harbour Senior College Completes Open Water Course
The kids from Coffs Harbour Secondary School packed up Mega Wild and shot out towards South Solitary Island to finish up their Open Water Course! Conditions were very similar to yesterday, showing up best on the top end of the island.
First up, a couple of students completing their Advanced Open Water dives got in at Manta Arch and met everyone else at Cleaner Station! The Arch had around 20 different Grey Nurses coming and going! Instructor Steve also spotted a tiny little Sea Spider. Around at Cleaner Station, everyone saw at least 3 Leopard Sharks, two massive Eagle Rays, and a Hawksbill Turtle. There was a Remora swimming around who has seemed to be hanging out for the past few weeks.
After a surface interval, everyone got in again at Cleaner Station and ended at Shark Gutters. Some massive turtles were out and about on this one, Green and Hawksbill. More Leopards and Grey Nurses were seen on this dive, too! If you looked closely you also would have seen an Octopus as well as a Yellow Box Fish.
Congrats to all of the CHEC kids who completed their Open Water Diving Course today!
