4th July 2026 – Saturday Spent with Sharks & Whales
Today’s dives began at Manta Arch. Swimming through the arch with the Grey Nurse Sharks is a surreal experience. Up to 15 sharks were cruising from the arch down the gutter. A few divers headed out to 30 metres, where they came across a large school of Chevron Barracuda and spotted a few nudibranchs.
For the second dive, the group headed to Cleaning Station, where they found multiple piles of wobbegongs, moray eels, a large Spanish Dancer, and a school of pomfrets gathered around the mooring line.
On the surface, the group was delighted to see plenty of whales migrating north. There was one whale tail-slapping, along with several spectacular breaches.
