With a boat full of student divers, we made a trip to one of our less dived islands, South West Solitary, or its more common name, Groper, named after the countless Blue Groper that hang in the marine sanctuary. The first dive was a nice, cruisy dive at Coral Gardens. Covered in massive amounts of plate corals, this dive site is full of marine life that hangs out closer to shore than what we normally encounter out at South Solitary. The highlight of this dive was a White-spotted Guitarfish, a rarely spotted, critically endangered species, so this was a unique find.

Other highlights of the dive were some Eagle Rays, Lionfish, Turtles, and a shovelnose ray hiding in the sand. It was a great day underwater for the open water divers experiencing their first-ever dive. Alongside the open water students, we also had a group finishing off their rescue course today. A huge Congratulations to Claire, Courtney, Bruce, and Sharron, our brand new certified rescue divers!
