sunday 21st – Sharky sunday!
As we headed out to South Solitary for Sharky Sunday, we were treated to an incredible display of migrating whales, with plenty of active breaching, tail slapping, and jumping as they made their way north.
For the first dive, Chris and Steve entered the water with Jordan at Manta Arch and swam around the northern end of the island to Cleaner Station, while the rest of the group enjoyed diving around Cleaner Station.
On the second dive, everyone entered at Manta Arch and was spoiled by Grey Nurse Sharks everywhere! We counted seven Grey Nurse Sharks at the bottom of the mooring line, with a couple more scattered among the boulders heading west toward the inside of the island. In the lower gutter, we were greeted by another 7–10 sharks. We hovered with them for as long as we could before making our way back. Along the bottom, we also spotted plenty of moray eels and nudibranchs.
Congratulations to Maxwell, Chelsea, Brendan, and Mandy on completing their Open Water certification today! And congratulations to Nicholas on completing his refresher course—welcome back to the water!
