Saturday 7th November 2026 – Getting Hammered
For the first time this season we ran both boats out to South Solitary island. Both Mega and SoWild were packed with excited divers and the conditions did not dissapoint. Excellent vis and warm water (above the thermocline!) made for some epic dives. Sowild dropped the experienced dive groups at Manta Arch, divers getting down with the Grey Nurse Sharks and getting a good encouter with some hammerheads. On the other side of the island at Buchanan’s Wall, the divers on Megawild got to experience te best buchanans had to offer, and a few divers were lucky enough to see see hammers in the distance down the wall.
Dive two had both groups of divers in around the Gantry, lots of turtles, wobbegongs and schooling fish, including a wobbegong trying to eat a pufferfish (And having a hard time). Some of the open water students even caught a glimpse of a few more hammerheads on the deep side of 5 metre rock.
All up some amazing diving and the hammerheads are definitely around, if a bit skittish.
