PADI Pro Instructor Coxswain course
This is not just a job, this is a career in SCUBA Diving! This PADI Pro Instructor Coxswain course is designed to give you all the skills and hands-on training to be a PADI Pro with skills above and beyond other Instructor courses.
We have developed a perfectly blended course to provide you with the qualifications to find work within the Scuba and Watersports tourism industry, and have credentials well above other candidates. Not only does this course give you the skills and qualifications of a PADI Scuba Instructor and a qualified Boat Driver Coxswain, It gives you training to the level of PADI Dive Instructor and additional training in key skills within PADI Dive centres.
What is involved in the PADI Pro Instructor Coxswain course?
The PADI Pro Instructor Coxswain course starts with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, which involves 6 day training dives plus in this package, it includes an additional Night Dive.
Following that course is the PADI “Apply First Aid” First Aid and PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider course.
At the same time we run the PADI Rescue Diver course, completing your recreational dive courses.
Included in the PADI Pro Instructor Coxswain course cost is a complete package of SCUBA equipment. As an Instructor, it is required and expected you have your own equipment and this package includes a “Instructor Level” package to your liking. (Retail value of over $3000)
The PADI Divemaster course now begins and bring on the Pro training. This level introduces you to assisting on our Dive Boats and helping with the operation of our Dive trips. Depending on the time of year, you are likely to do up to 100 dives and cover all aspects of Dive leadership and Assisting Instructors in training courses.
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the course that gives you the skills to work in the Dive Industry as a Professional. The PADI Examination qualifies you to that level. Whilst this is the certificate you need, it is what everyone else has too! Further training with Jetty Dive gives you the expertise and ability to be a valuable staff member of PADI Dive Centres and Resorts across the world.
Courses and training that are included in this package are PADI Gas Blender, Regulator Service Technician, Retail Sales and “EVE” Software Store and Database management.
When all the training is complete, Jetty Dive Centre has associated resorts and centres to allow the students to travel and experience working in exotic dive destinations. 3 months diving in Santo, Vanuatu? or maybe Lord Howe Island?
In a Partnership with T.A.F.E, Jetty Dive will assist you through your Coxswains course, utilising our Dive boats for your practical requirements of your Certificate II in Marine Operations “Coxswain” course whilst T.A.F.E. will deliver the Marine Operations theory on a part time basis. (Cost of T.A.F.E. course is not included as a variation in cost is based on the students criteria)

Pre-requisites of the PADI Pro Instructor Coxswain course
- Be a certified PADI Open Water Diver and hold “SISSCB301A SCUBA dive in open water to a maximum of 18 metres” RTO certificate.
- Be medically fit to dive and hold a AS2299.1 Professional Dive Medical.
These Pre-requisite courses are conducted regularly at Jetty Dive. Not many other dive centres can issue the RTO certificates with their courses, so we recommend starting with us!
Are you cut out to be a Dive Instructor?
At Jetty Dive, we have trained a lot of SCUBA divers and we can see if people are cut out for the job. Completing the Pre-Requisite courses with Jetty Dive enables us to Observe and Assess your ability and help you to your goal. We don’t give up on people who may struggle at first, we have trained a few Open Water Divers who struggled to complete the entry level course, and have then watched them progress through to become great PADI SCUBA Instructors.

When can I Start?
When you are ready! Ideal times are September and October , so skills are in place to assist in our busy summer period.
How many hours a week?
This is not a Full-time course, however it will be beneficial if 5 days a week or more are available.
The components of the courses can be conducted in times when you are not working at Part Time jobs. We would suggest a minimum of 4 days a week, including weekends will need to be allocated. You will be involved in Dive Trips to Whale Watching and Whale Swim tours which are running most days. A minimum requirement of 30 days on Boats is needed to comply with the Marine Coxswain course. Training within the Dive Centre is ongoing and requires minimum hours in-store per week which includes weekends.
PADI Pro Instructor Coxswain Course Pricing
Total cost of course is $9,800.00. If equipment is already owned, deduct $2000.
Cost of the T.A.F.E. Certificate II in Marine Operations “Coxswain” course theory component, varies from $160 to $1600. Please contact us to enable us to help determine what cost is expected for you.
