With perfect conditions off the coast, MegaWild packed up both Scuba and Freediving equipment to shoot out to South Solitary for a splash around in the water! Between a Search and Recovery Course, an Open Water Diving Course, a Freediving Course, along with certified dive leads- we had a bit on! And everyone had a great time (:

Dive one was a simple swim up from Buchanan’s Wall to The Gantry. There were lots of Banded Coral Shirmp seen, as well as Peppermint Shirmp and Blood Shrimp. Abbots Morays and White Eyed Morays were seen hiding in rock crevasses. Egg Cowries were seen in abundance as well! the highlight of this dive was a Queensland Groper!

To cover the other end of the island, divers then jumped in at Shark Gutters for a drift down to The Gantry for the second dive! There were around 20 Grey Nurse Sharks seen inside of Shark Gutters, with about 10 more flowing over into Cleaner Station. To add to the fun, there were 4 massive Bull Rays seen swimming amongst the Sharks in Cleaners. Along the wall, the usuals were seen – such as Black Cod and some schooling fish. Closer to the gap, there were heaps of Turtles! A massive Hawksbill Turtle was seen swimming around some other relatively large Green Turtles. Octopus, Nudibranchs, and Sea-hares were also amongst the harder to find sea creatures on this days dive!
