4th August 2017 – CHEC students complete PADI Open Water Course in time for Heron Island trip.

2 Wild was full of students from Coffs Harbour Education Campus excited to finish their PADI Open Water Course. Conditions were a little choppy so Split Solitary was the Island of choice where students had a couple of great dives seeing Green Sea Turtles, Numb rays, Crested Horn Shark, Coral Shrimp, Wobbys, Nudis, Porcupine Fish and loads of schooling fish.
Congratulations Tyran, Jasmine, Jarrod, and Maddy in completing their open water course and Selena in completing her PADI advanced open water course, well done!

5th August 2017 – Dive Dive Dive!

It was another day in paradise out at South Solitary Island. Divers found themselves surrounded with half a dozen Grey Nurse Sharks around Manta Arch, also Cleaner Station and Shark Gutters. The second dive was a swim from Cleaner to South Boulder, seeing an array of marine life including Turtles, Lionfish, Black Cod, Groupers, Crayfish, Nudis, Wobbys and a variety of schooling fish.

6th August 2017 – Giant Cuttlefish Finish off Sunday Funday

It was an amazing finish to the week with two spectacular dives at South Solitary Island.
Manta Arch to The Gantry via the gap in the island was the first choice, plenty of Grey Nurse Sharks around the back gutter and some getting up close in The Gap followed by a few Turtles around at the Gantry.
After watching some Humpback Whales cruise on past during the surface interval we dropped in at Cleaner for a drift around the corner, a couple more Grey Nurse Sharks spotted, Eagle Rays, Kingfish, a huge Spanish Dancer and three Giant Cuttlefish on Boulder Wall!!!
We would like to thank Jen, Graeme and group from Dive Dive Dive for diving with us over the weekend, we hope you enjoyed every part and will see you again soon.

11th August 2017 – Friday Funday

Today’s dives were just what we need to start our weekend off right. Split Solitary Island sheltered us from the foretasted North Westerly, where we spent both dives at and around Mikes Mooring and Turtle Cove. The Bottom was covered in vibrant corals, Wobbygongs, Baby Cuttlefish, Black Cod, Eastern Blue Devil-fish, Coral Trout, Groupers, Crayfish, Eagle Ray, Numb-ray, schools of Bulls-eye fish and many more wonderful creatures of the sea.
Congratulations Lea and Flin in completing their PADI Open Water Course, and Gerry in completing a Discover Scuba Dive with us, well done!

12th August 2017 – Great Vis and Great Diving South Solitary Island!

Today’s dives at South Solitary Island could not get any better! First dive was a swim from Manta Arch to Cleaner Station, seeing a dozen Grey Nurse Sharks, Eagle Rays, Bull Rays, Wobbygongs swimming about and plenty of Schooling fish. The second dive was another swim, but from Cleaner Station to the Gantry. It’s been some time since we have dived the Gantry due to their being no mooring Line, so it felt good to finally dive it again. Along the way divers saw more Grey Nurse Sharks, Bull Rays, Eagle Rays, Leaf Scorpionfish, Barnie the Loggerhead Turtle, Giant Cuttlefish, nudis, Black Cod, Groupers and Schooling fish.
Congratulations Joelle in completing the PADI Open Water Scuba Diver Course, well done!

27th August 2017 – Superboat Sunday!

Due to the offshore superboat championship’s on at the jetty, 2 wild made an early getaway for some much needed dives at South Solitary Island, It was nice to be back in the water. Certified divers started at Manta Arch, seeing over a dozen Grey Nurse Sharks, then swimming to meet up with the student divers at Cleaner Station. Second dive was a swim from Shark Gutters to South Boulder where we saw Turtles, Bull rays, Wobbys, Lionfish, Nudis, Eagle Rays, Batfish, Blue Groupers, Black Cod, Banner Fish, Eels, Crayfish and plenty of Schooling Fish.
Also, thanks to all the rescue divers who helped with the Superboat Championships this weekend.
