2nd february 2025 -Super Sunday at South Solitary!
Despite the gloomy conditions this morning MegaWild loaded up to capacity with some super keen divers and powered out to South Solitary, where despite some layered visibility (and a couple of rude thermoclines) we were in for some awesome diving!
First up our certified divers dropped in at Manta Arch for a swim to meet our students at Shark Gutters. During the dive eight Grey Nurse Sharks were seen in Manta Arch and the Manta Gutter, Banded Coral Shrimp, a juvenile Emperor Angelfish, four Queensland Grouper, Black Cod, a Bull Ray, a Cownose Ray and almost every schooling fish imaginable (Bannerfish, Fusilliers, Surgeonfish, Scads, Moorish Idols, et al) haning in a single continuous cloud of fish extending from the Manta Arch mooring to well past the Shark Gutters mooring!
For the second dive our divers descended on Shark Gutters to saturate the top end of the island. Highlights of the dive included a lone Leopard Shark, White Eyed Moray Eels, Zebra Lionfish, a Loggerhead Turtle, Nudibranchs (most notable was a Chromodoris kuiteri), a tiny depressed Spider Crab and one very curious Peacock Mantis Shrimp!
Water Temperature: 24-21°C
