10th February- Today was a good day
We continued on our week of diving and SoWild headed out to South Solitary Island this morning with a small crew to complete two dives! We tied up at Buchanans Wall for our first dive and headed a bit further up to The Gantry for our second dive.
The first dive had a very chilly thermocline and was visible as you descended. There was a massive wall of schooling Happy Moments stretching all the way from the mooring line to cable trail! While teaching a deep dive speciality course, nathan spotted a Guitarfish and shortly after a Spinner shark! Blended in with it surroundings, a ThornBack Cowfish was seen! Notable mention being a MASSIVE Giant Stingray sitting in the 16 metre sandy patch on the other side of the wall.
Second up, the Gantry did not disappoint! It was all happening, with give or take 10 Leopard Sharks in and around the Gap! They just kept on coming, swimming near the divers for a majority of the divers. The Spinner Shark was seen again swimming in the middle of the schooling happy moments, and then an Eagle Ray and Leopard Shark emerged! Yellow Box Fish, Green Turtles and Hawksbill Rays, Spoindle Cowries and Sea Hare’s.
Congratulations Emma and Jade for completing your PADI Open Water Diver!
