11th February 2025- Cuddly Leopard
SoWild got out to South Solitary Island this morning with another small crew of divers! After steaming through the swell, we made it out to the light and saw the conditions had improved slightly possibly due to the pumping current we had.
Dive one was a drop in at Buchanan’s Wall. It was a bit chilly once you hit 15+ metres, but beautiful nontheless! A giant Green Turtle, Saddle Puffer Fish, Lions Mane Jelly Fish, Thornback Cowfish, Abbott’s and Green Morays, Popcorn Shrimp and Coral banded Shrimp were some animals to be seen today.
Dive two was saw divers descend at The Gantry in hopes to see some Leopard Sharks! This dive did not disappoint, as there were 6 Leopard Sharks hanging out in the gap, all very inquisitive! We even had one swim in nice and close (almost too close) to our advanced student. Too many Turtles were seen to count, probably in between 8-10 Green and hawksbill! A Spotted Eagle Ray with some Cobia trailing behind was swimming over 5 metre rock, through all of the schooling happy moments.
Visibility: 10-12 metres
Temperature: 24°C
