22nd February 2025- Conditions Easing
South Solitary Island really showcased its beauty this morning as Mega Wild headed out for a double dive with a boat full of divers!
Dive one was a drop in at Buchanans Wall as the surface was a bit choppy else where. Buchanan’s displayed all of its magic, with the highlights being the macros! Shrimp shrimp shrimp! These guys ranged from Banded Coral Shrimp, Glass Shrimp, Popcorn Shrimp, and Ambon Cleaner’s! Heaps of Nudibranchs showcased their colours. If you were lucky you even got to see all of the juvenile box fish! Some of the larger animals that made an appearance were Green Sea Turtles, a Leopard Shark, and some Lionfish!
Dive two was a lovely swim from Shark Gutters down to South Boulder! There was heaps of schooling fish, creating a lovely atmosphere. Blotched Fantail Rays, Spotted Eagle Rays, and Eastern Spotted Stingrays were some of our ray highlights on this dive! Another Leopard Shark was sighted, which is a great sign that the previous winds didnt scare all of them away quite yet! Book in to see the last of them. Octopus, more Turtles, Black Cod, and even a spanish dancer with tiny shrimp dancing on its back were some of the other notable mentions!
We had quite a few students compelte their courses today! Congratulations Willow, kiara, Stephen, Ewan, and Troy who completed their Open Water Courses today! Another massive congrats to the lovely ladies who finished up their Advanced Open Water Diver Course today- Montanna, Lisa, and Jordan!!
