22nd March 2025 – Finally in the water again!
After the longest three weeks ever, Jetty Dive was able to get MegaWild out for a post-Alfred double dive! With a boat full of keen divers, the light southerly blow allowed for two amazing dives on the top end of South Solitary Island!
Dive one saw some of our advanced divers jumping in at Manta Arch for a swim around the corner to meet the rest of the divers at Shark Gutters. This dive was about Leopards, leopards, aaand some more leopards! In total there were in between 8-10 Leopard Sharks, all very crusiey with us as they wove their way in and out of students doing there open water skills in the third gutter! A small Hawksbill Turtle was swimming around the Third Gutter. Meanwhile back in Manta Arch, divers were greeted with around 12-15 Grey Nurse Sharks swimming in and out of the Arch!
After a surface interval, everyone jumped back in at Shark Gutters for a swim down to South Boulder. 3 Spotted Eagle Rays were seen at the bottom of the Shark Gutters Mooring line. More Leopard Sharks were seen inside of the Third Gutters, along with heaps moving up and down the Boulder Wall. Bull Rays, a Numb Ray, and a Blue Spotted Ribbontail Ray were also soon. Our frequently sighted marine life was also seen, like Schooling fish, Moray Eels, blue Grouper, Wobbegongs, and more.
