15th June 2025- Whales are migrating NOrth
SoWild took advantage of the lull in wind and swell and shot out to South Solitary today for a dive with a lovely crew. The Humpback Whale migration is in full swing and they are on their way North to mate and give birth. We saw multiple pods on their journey north as we went out to the island!
Conditions were great on the surface so we took the opportunity to jump in at Manta Arch for a swim around to Cleaner Station. The second dive saw us jump in at Shark Gutters for a dive around the top end. There was heaps out today, including 15+ Grey Nurse Sharks in Manta Arch and into the gutter. A few Eagle Rays were seen swimming from Manta into Cleaners as well. Lots of locals were seen, including White Eyed Moray Eels, Black Cod, massive Spanish Dancers, Octopus, Nudibranchs, and Shrimp. Some divers were lucky enough to see a school of Chevron Barracuda swimming by as well! Even a black Box Fish was spotted!
Congratulations to Graham, Peter, and Louise for completing your PADI Open Water Diving course!
