27th July 2025- Loud Humpbacks Underwater
SoWild had a full boat on today! We were all keen to get out to the island as its been over a week since we’ve put our fins on! The wind was a bit of a mixed bag, so Manta Arch through to the Gantry was an optimal choice for the first dive. The second dive saw all divers jump in at Buchanans’s Wall.
Manta Arch had a few Nurses passing through, however the big numbers were seen in Manta Gutter with around 20+ hanging around! There were heaps of Turtles around the southern end of South Solitary today, both Hawksbill and Greens – males and females! A couple of Eagle Rays were glidng past five metre rock, even one visible from the surface as it jumped out of the water! Humpback Whales crusied past us on our surface interval and were very very loud and active underwater (still waiting for the day i can see one on a dive!)! Some divers spotted some other sea creatures like Octopus, Wobbegongs hiding in rocks, Black Cod and Queensland Grouper, Spanish Dancers, and schooling Tarwhine/Stripeys/Pomfrets!
