11t February 2026- Safari Diving with Leopards
The weather god’s are in our favour and we have had beautiful conditions this week! After what we saw in the water yesterday, it would be silly not to muster up a few punters to make the trip out this morning. Typically, our trip to South Solitary Island takes around 20-25 minutes. Well, today, it only took 15 minutes as the surface conditions were super flat!
Dive one was up and down at Shark Gutters. Initially on descent, we encountered a very cold thermocline and didn’t see much marine life in the top end gutters. After we swam down Boulder Wall, we were instantly greeted with heaps of Leopard Sharks swimming in the shallow, warmer waters. Eagle ray’s were still hanging around, mostly in the cooler water.
Dive two was a drop in at Shark Gutters and we swam down to The Gantry. Again, this dive was alllll about the leopards! All in all, i think we saw 30 individual Leopard Sharks on this dive. They just didn’t stop coming! Boulder wall was absolutely teeming with life, with heaps of schooling fish (Chevron Barracuda being the fan fav!). Once we entered the gap of the island, both Hawksbill and Green turtles appeared abundantly.
