12th October 2025-Schooling Fish Everywhere
With the wind dying down and the sea conditions calming, it would be rude not to take the boat out for a dive on this fabulous sunday! We had a great time too, despite visibility being poor.
Dive one was taking advantage of the top end while we could, so we jumped in at Shark Gutters. Dive two was making the most of the protected southern end of the island at the gantry. Despite poor visibility, we had heaps to see underwater today! A couple of big Queensland Groupers were out and about today, seen at the bottom of Shark Gutters Mooring. Chevron Barracuda were out in massive numbers today (like lots), with a big school gathering around the Sanctuary Marker! Schooling fish created vast walls around the moorings, you didnt know where to look! We had schooling Tarwhine, Pomfrets, Stripeys, Bream, Surgeon Fish, and more! A couple of big green turtles were in the gap, along with a Blind Shark hiding in the rocks from us! BubbleShell Nudibranchs were a crowd favourite (aka Craigs Favourite)! We saw about a dozen Grey Nurse Sharks today, all packed into the gutters. Going off of their skittish behavious today, i dare say we will have the arrival of Hammerheads very soon! Happy sunday
