19th October 2025- sOUTHERLY sUNDAYS!
After nearly a week out of the water, it is safe to say we were pretty keen to get wet again! What a better day than to go today, as the weather was fabulous for a double dive. Heading out to South Solitary, we encountered about 6 or 7 Humpback Whales cruising past the boat on their journey South again.
With a slight southerly blow, we were able to get in on the top end for both dives (Cleaner Station for our first dive and Shark Gutters for the second). There was minimal current and the visibility was alright. We saw heaps of Grey Nurse Sharks, maybe around 8-10 different individuals. There were a couple pretty large individual Black Cod and Queensland Grouper were inside the gutters. A MASSIVE Round Ribbontail Ray was seen on both dives, and swam right up to our Open Water Students! Schooling fish were creating walls for us to swim through, and a turtle even said hello on the second dive.
Congratualtions to the three new rescue divers, Lisa Jordan and Xavier.
