Merry Christmas Eve from the team at Jetty Dive! Today we shot out to South Solitary for a double dive in true Christmas Spirit! Conditions were nice and flat on the surface, and upon arrival, the visibility looked better than yesterday!

Because of the current running on the top end of the island, we got in at Buchanan’s Wall for the first dive! A solo Grey Nurse was seen around Cable Train, quite calm compared to the one we saw yesterday, who was buzzing around! A Queensland grouper, a Yellow Box fish, Moray eels, and some shrimp were a highlight at the wall today.

Our second dive was a drift from Shark Gutters to the Gantry. We had a looooovely time in the water for this dive. The Boulder Wall running along the island was absolutely teeming with life today! It was great to see such a number of Grey Nurse Sharks on the top end today (about 6-7 individuals). Boulder Wall was jammed packed with traffic! Bull Rays were swimming up and down the wall, side by side with a couple of Eagle Rays. Once you turned the corner at South Boulder and headed into the gap, there was definitely no lack of Green Turtles. We saw the biggest male we have seen in ages! Lucky Bryce… he even saw a Leopard Shark! It is still very early to see them on the island, and although we are not necessarily “in season” for them, we have seen a couple! Christmas definitely came early for us this year.

Congratulations Xandre, Ashley, and Jeremy who all completed their PADI Open Water Diver Course today.
