SoWild defeated the odds against this morning’s southerly blow and got out for a successful dive in the Solitary Island Marine Park. We tied up at Cleaner Station on the first dive. The visibility was pretty poor all the way down til 16 metres, where it then cleared up to a brown 5 metres. Despite the vis, this dive was jam-packed with marine life!! Cleaner Gutter was filled with nudibranchs from top to bottom, there were half a dozen Grey Nurse Sharks off the deeper side of the mooring, and the rock was teeming with fish life!! Some really big Black Cod, along with a Queensland Grouper, were buzzing around, alongside schooling Moorish Idols, trevaly, bullseyes, tarwhine, and a couple of kings.

Dive two, we decided to venture over to South-West Solitary (Grouper) as the visibility and current did not suit us at South Solitary. Up close to the island, we still suffered with poor visibility, but once you went past 12 metres, it was fabulous. Macro heaven, there were so many different shells, slugs and nudibranchs you couldn’t count! Wobbegongs were sleeping on the coral plates with Moray Eels and Crays hiding under them.

Congratulations to Flavia, Julia, Jenni, and Sophie who all completed their PADI Open Water Diver Course Today.
