28th November 2019 – Finally back in the water!
28th November 2019
Today, Thursday 28th November 2019, we finally got back out to the Solitary Islands after a few days of bad weather.
Our first dive was at Shark Gutters, which lived up to its name. There was well over 10 Grey Nurse Sharks, in every direction! We saw a spanish dancer, and a lionfish in a cave. There was plenty of schooling fish, the usual culprits of tarwhine, but we saw some goatfish too.
We drifted a little bit wider around the island for our surface interval, as it was smoother for our divers.
For the second dive, we did a drift dive from shark gutters to south boulder. We found around 1/2 dozen sharks, some bullrays (one of which is pictured – thanks Dylan for the photo!) and some big wobbegong sharks. Down the wall we spotted heaps more marine life – including some turtles.
Water Temperature: 20°C
Visibility: 15 metres
