29th June 2017 – Breaching Whales finish with Bird Rescue
We managed to get out one trip today before the weather change came in.
Just out of the harbour we had whales breaching everywhere and were spoiled for choice on what and where to look!! We had about 15 breaches in the time we were with the whales along with some tail and pectoral slaps.
On the return trip home we spotted a juvenile gannet bird that had been hooked and entangled in a fishing line just of Muttonbird Island and could not fly! The Jetty Dive team Lindsay, Kate, Dan and Bonnie come to the rescue and took the bird back and down to Pacific Vet Care.
Thank you to Rachael Mckenzie for the photo of us rescuing the injured bird
What and awesome day
