2nd January 2026- First Dive of 2026 Did Not Dissappoint
South Solitary’s conditions were extremely pleasant for todays dive! Mega Wild cruised out with a full boat to enjoy the summer diving we had in front of us.
With warm water around 23 C and visibility out to about 20 m, it was easy to scan the bottom of the ocean floor and gutters below the surface. We entered Shark Gutter and immediately saw a good mix of marine life, including both green turtles and hawksbill turtles cruising through the blue and showing off their graceful fin kicks as they passed by. Wobbegongs were tucked into the structure in their usual spot,s and moray eels peered out from cracks as we swam past. A few yellow boxfish brightened up the sandy patche,s and banded coral shrimp waved from their ledges, which was great for anyone into macro life. Good conditions and clear water made every sighting that much more enjoyable and gave everyone plenty of time to appreciate the critters we came across underwater.
Dive two was another smooth dive back through the gutter and the clear visibility meant we could see far ahead as turtles continued to make appearances and small reef fish danced around. The warm water was easy to dive in and the overall conditions made for really pleasant dives, where both experienced divers and new eyes had lots to see. A great day underwater at Shark Gutter that left everyone buzzing about the sightings and the superb conditions
Congratulations to Michaela, Craig, and Dave for completing the PADI Open Water Diver Course!
