6th June 2025- Fun in Manta Arch
With conditions easing this morning after a week of high seas, we saw an opportunity to go for a dive! SoWild and its divers packed up and steamed out to South Solitary for two fabulous dives.
The visibility has dropped since last weekend, due to the northerly winds, but no one minded as we were keen as to get in! First up SoWild saw divers jump in at Manta Arch for a swim through the arch and into the Back Gutter. Notable marine life were the dozen (plus) Grey Nurses were hanging in the deep water out behind the arch, two Cowfish, a Black Box Fish, Nudibranchs, and Moray Eels (Abots and White Eyed)
Dive two was a swim around the Gantry. The Gap had 4-6 very large Green Sea Turtles, showing some curiosity and coming in close to our open water students! A speedy Whaler, Heaps of Wobbegongs, Old Wives, different Shrimp species, and a squad of Squid were some other notable animals!
Visibility – 5 metres
Temperature: 20°C
