7th February 2025 – Leopard Party at the Gantry!
After a brief break from diving SoWild loaded up and steamed out for some overdue diving… and once again South Solitary failed to disappoint!
First up our divers dropped in at Buchanan’s Wall for a swim to the Gantry, the wall was alive with macro life, such as Banded Coral Shrimp, Glass Shrimp, Popcorn Shrimp, Ambon Cleaner Shrimp, juvenile Yellow Boxfish, Nudibranchs (most notable was an as yet unidentified Nembrotha Sp.), Duncker’s Pipehorse and Stingarees were seen deep off the wall. Whilst the area between Buchanan’s Wall and The Gantry was unusually quiet, the action at Five Metre Rock more than made up for it! at least five Leopard Sharks were hanging around, along with stacks of smaller fish and even a lone Great Baracuda was seen!
For the second dive our divers descended on Shark Gutters for a swimmy-drift to The Gantry highlights along the way included a Marbled Ray in the Cleaner Station Cave, a baby Grey Nurse Shark, a Spanish Dancer with an Emperor Shrimp piggybacking, Flower Urchins, more Nudibranchs and more Leopard Sharks!
